So Much Fun This Fall

Linda and I had a great night on the town at a Field Museum Gala.

The Dundee Dems had a table set up at the Carpentersville Fall Fest.

And I joined in with the Rotary river cleanup with the C’Ville Rotary for “It’s Our Fox River Day.”

The Fox Will Flow Free!

The Fox Valley Daily Herald ran an article about the future of Fox River and the effects that will come from this exciting project, including more abundant wildlife, clear travel for recreation, and better water quality. This project won’t be overnight but in the end the Fox will flow like a new river and we’ll have a new park alongside it!

“No tolls attached” from the Daily Herald

I have been an outspoken board member opposing the toll on the Longmeadow Parkway for over 6 years. I am happy to say that the Longmeadow Parkway will be opening without any toll!

After speaking out for removal of the toll on the new Longmeadow Bridge, the legislature has allocated funds to pay for the bridge; thus guaranteeing that the bridge will open without a toll! Thanks to Kane County Board Chair, Corinne Pierog, for carrying the argument to the Illinois State Legislators: including Representatives Suzanne Ness and Anna Moeller and State Senator/Majority Whip, Christina Castro for their help!

Thank You Girls Scouts of Illinois

It was nice to have a few of you attending our Executive Committee meeting. The Scouts expressed their appreciation for the forest preserves, mentioned they enjoyed last year’s Great Orb Hunt, and encouraged more programs like that to help the public interact and engage with the forest preserves.

Pictured are Girl Scouts Kaitlin Liu, Emerald Lendi and Amy Lendi with Forest Preserve District President Chris Kious. Not pictured are leaders Alisa Liu and Heidi Lendi.

Turning On The Power

I am proud to be part of the Kane County Board’s Energy and Environment Committee along with Mavis Bates who initiated and guided the plan for a solar field behind the Kane County Judicial Center in St Charles.
It is expected the County will save approximately $200,000 per year, or more than $4 million over the 25-year life expectancy.
The solar field is projected to produce more than 3.5 million kWh annually and a total of 78 million kWh throughout the contract’s duration. To put it in perspective, the average household consumes approximately 10,000 kWh per year. That means this initiative will generate enough energy to power 350 homes each year. Part of Kane County’s forward-looking vision and our commitment to sustainability for a more environmentally friendly future.
